Catherine's 100 Word Challenge Week 5

Prompt: ...as I stared into the water it began to turn green...

Golden Glory

Excitement chewed its way, through perfect, fingernails. Silence surrounds me. The nerve-racking, race was about to start. I sprint forward jumping flawlessly. I’m nearly at the finish line.

Suddenly I felt an icy blast of water hit me. Puddles were forming pushing it’s way past everything. As I stared into the water it began to turn green. Worries flew out of mouths, running for the nearest building. Sweat grips me, hugging me tightly.

The race must go on. I thrust forward running like a ravenous cheetah. I felt the finish line  against my skin. I’ve won! I’ve got the gold!
