My Time To Shine:
I proudly walk onto the stage, this is it; my time to shine. The music starts and I dance as if my life depends on it. As I turn I imagine myself on New Zealand’s Got Talent performing my heart out. As the music comes to an end, I pose like a pop-star with the crowd cheering and clapping, making me feel incredible. I bow and walk off. I danced as if I have been dancing all my life. Then I hear a whisper in my ear, “Congratulations you did wonderfully, you deserve an award for most improved. Well done!”

Chloe's 100 Word Challenge - Week 6

Cancer. I am full of cancer. I am dying. My life is numbered by days, but I live it at my fullest.
Two weeks later I was terminal. Dying.
I didn’t need to be told that, I knew that, I live that. I look around at my surroundings. The smell of bleach suffocates me. The monitor that is connected to me fills my body with chemo. An antidote they call it, I just think of it as a postponement to death. I know it’s coming I don’t need lies.
I’m dying. Everyone is just some of us more than others.

The Sea
Sea salt was floating in the air like a mist slowly landing on my face. In the distance I could see the blurry outline of of the Antarctic hills.

As we slowly drifted closer to the ice I could hear something weird and unnamable. But as we neared the the giant mountains of ice I could see.
Lined up across the edge of the glassy ice were elephant seals!

I could hear the seals squealing, screaming and snorting rudely to each other. Everyone piled on deck. In the distance I could hear an old rusty foghorn blowing out to see.

Chloe's 100 Word Challenge - Week 7

The baseball pitch lingered endlessly. The ball breezes through the arena causing Tsunamis of energy from crowds. The batter lifts their bat, ready to pound the ball. The ball floats through the air for what seems like infinity then, meets the face of the bat. The crowd shrills screams for the runner to move. They move their feet quick as lightning and skid over the bases with their feet meeting the mats by inches. They reach the home base just as the fielders retrieve the ball. The crowd lets out an overjoyed scream as the home team is announced champions.

Caged

I am trapped. Forever I would rot in this cage with black iron bars, I feel like a prisoner but I'm not, i'm supposed to be the mighty king of the jungle instead i'm the lonely king of nothing. All I get is torture day after day poked and prodded. I need to escape. Maybe if I dig out underneath the Flamingo cage, of if I knock of the lock of door. If I did escape I would go to this extraordinary mountain where the grass is long and wavy and the trees cast long shadows across the rocky riverbed.

Catherine's 100 Word Challenge Week 6

Prompt: Black, Flamingo, Poked, Extraordinary, Underneath

Frightful Flamingo
Black geese scrounged around for, scrumptious, scraps, of food. I searched around. Suddenly my flamingo toy poked underneath my bag. I slowly backed away. Street lights glowed, surrounding me, every way I went. I ran for my life, taking every chance I had to escape from that creepy, pink, winged, bird. It was like a curse, creeping me out, never letting go of me. Taking all my happiness.

Puffed, I kept running, sprinting, to a safe haven. The jungle protected, sheltered me.
This extraordinary place was my home now.
The flamingo had lost me.
I was safe.
I was free.

My Toy Flamingo
I looked down the hallway, the black staring back at me. As I wondered what to do, I tiptoed like a mouse into my parents room trying to find something to do. I looked everywhere for a toy a game or anything. I looked underneath the extraordinary silk covers of my parents bed. And there shining in the middle of the floor my toy flamingo I took it and found a hole in it. I was trying to sew up the hole when the needle poked me. Finally I fixed the hole and went and played happily with my sister.

Prompt:
Black   Flamingo   Extraordinary   Poked   Underneath

Dreadful news…
I’ve got cancer.

Hours spent in hospital.
Waiting for the results from my scan. The nurse slowly approached me. I began to feel black and empty inside. From the expression on the nurse's face, I knew I was going to die, I was certain.

Extraordinary news…
I was clear, there’s no cancer in me. I decided to raise money for the Cancer Society, so I sold flamingo shaped biscuits.

An envelope poked out from underneath my pillow. It’s a letter from the Cancer Society. Thanks for donating. Your donation has been given to people in need.
I smiled.

The Black Swan

The extraordinary, ballerina strengthened her biceps then lifted her body and flew past the orchestra behind her, like a black swan. After the show the crowds melted away. The flee from the night echoed through the valleys. Xanthe poked my elbow. The funny bone sensation started to creep into my skin.

Underneath my tongue was a rush of joy when my mouth met sherbet. Xanthe bought some from the store on the corner of Masons Street. We got home. My flamingo bedspread invited me to let go of my thoughts and lye in the monster while the night grew old.

Black   Flamingo   Extraordinary   Poked   Underneath

We were all sitting on the mat ready to start the day, “legs crossed arms folded.” The teacher looked as if she had exciting news by the look on her face, she couldn’t hold it in. All of sudden a wave of excitement came over all the children because we were going to have an  extraordinary black flamingo underneath the roof of our classroom!
It was the next day and the flamingo was sitting in our class. We poked it and patted it all day! I went home to ask mum if i could have a flamingo
she said no!

Our Little Secret:
Waves crashed down onto the grainy sand. The bleached sky was as pink as a flamingo. I couldn’t swim in the water because it had turned black from rubbish that people threw in during the day. My extraordinary turquoise scales were clamped underneath a rock.  I was lucky that I was on the other side of the rocks because otherwise anyone could have seen me!

Then something poked me softly in the side. I looked up to see a barefoot boy who had climbed over the rocks, he only looked 3 years old. I whispered to him: “Our little secret!”

100Wc - Wk 6 - Emily L

The thunder crashed as I hid underneath the black sky of the night. This is really my nightmare from when I was a kid. Could this get any worse? Lightning burned the fence down. I spoke too soon. I thought to myself ‘This is only a dream’. I curled into a ball.

In the morning, I woke up and noticed my flamingo poked his head out of the lush green grass. It was quite an extraordinary day. It was horrendous yesterday, but beautiful today.

My Nike runners wash in the shine of the sun. My day gets brighter every second.

The  Gold Mine
We were walking through the dark, cold mines, water dripping off the damp roof. We were miles underneath the ground and all I could see was pitch black. As we walked further and further into the mine I suddenly saw an extraordinary sight. Never in my life have I seen something this beautiful. Towering in front of me was a giant wall of sparkling, smooth, gold! I walked up and poked the gold, it was soft, like the feathers of a flamingo. suddenly the ground was shaking. Rocks crumbled to the floor around me, I screamed.

We lost the priceless gold!

Phoebe's 100 Word Challenge - Week 6

Riding Caramel

Hooves thundered on the sand which sounded like a storm. The wind whistled as my flamingo black hair blew everywhere like an untamed beast. Underneath me was my horse Caramel, cantering a swift three beat gait.

I pulled the reins to left, steering towards trees that had toppled over in the wind, making a perfect jump. I could hear my heart beating, as anxiety filled my body.

A rider pulled up beside me.“You're not extraordinary like me” She bragged, and leaned forward and poked me. I decided to ignore her, and approached the jump and soared through the air…

An Extraordinary, Magnificent, Brilliant, Black Flamingo

I curiously stroked it’s black, silky feathers. It didn’t make a sound. It was surprisingly calm and serene. It felt extraordinary, unlike anything else I had ever felt.

We were standing underneath a gorgeous willow. It shaded us from the harsh sun. Beside us there was a small pond. The water was settled, except for a few tiny bubbles.

Abruptly, a little blue fish’s head poked out from beneath the surface. The small noise from the splash made the creature turn. I quickly took my hand away. I was amazed to have found one.

An extraordinary, magnificent, brilliant, black flamingo.

Chloe's 100 Word Challenge - Week 6

The dark, black sky forced me to shiver. I inhaled the sweet, misty aroma that signaled Winter was coming to an end. Lightning struck the air, which sent extraordinary thrills hurtling down my spine. Trees stood proud, like flamingos in the pitchy night sky. Suddenly a lightning strikes zapped a tall tree sending me, plummeting to the underneath world. I woke up to the sound of wind poking me in my ear. Slowly my eyes opened. I was mesmerized by the sight that stood before me.
Lifeless.
I swept my eyes around the landscape, then realised how alive it was.

Paradise That Surrounds
Stars were starting to emerge in the black sky above. I heard a sudden movement close to me. A bright pink flamingo poked out from underneath the green luscious grass. I started to run over to a glimmering reflective blue lake. “This is extraordinary” I screeched. I dived onto the hot golden sand thinking about how unreal this is. Paradise was surrounding me.

I grabbed my bag then began to unzip . I searched violently for my tent but I didn’t see it anywhere. I searched again but there was no sign of it. I wondered what should I do next?

A Magical Place

As I wandered through the extraordinary pond, the water delicately surrounded my feet. Underneath the surface the little fish poked at my toes as if they were trying to nibble them up for tea. In the distance I could see a pink flamingo wandering about the rocks. As night approached me the yellow sun turned into a black moon. I decided that I should head back. I calmly walked across the brightly lit up road and made my way back home. The smell of cottage pie welcomed me in. All night I dreamt about my magical adventure by the river.

Very Long Trip

I boarded the plane ready to go to extraordinary France, a jumbo man poked. I tried to move away but got jammed between two French men, I got notified that, “nous volonté être en quittant dans deux minutes.” I don’t really know what she wailed.

As we darted into the sky just underneath the black sky, the lady gave me a cup of jus, which is juice, very delicious juice. The flamingo straw spun in the air con. The girl beside me explained that this was “pomme jus, ne pas jus.” It was going to be a very long trip.

100 word challenge ~ week 5

I glanced at my face in the mirror. Ginger hair and freckled skin gazed back at me. I realised it was my face I was squinting at. I ran a tap and plunged a plug into the drain hole. I peeled off the plaster from my knee and stared at it with hatred . I knew I would get Isaac back for forcing my knee into the concrete at school. As I stared into the water it began to turn green. It smelt like rotting eggs. What was making it green? Has it always been like that but I haven’t noticed?

Chemistry lab

I chose my cream-coloured desk covered in pencil-carved graffiti and sat down. I was the unlucky one and got the chair with the one broken leg. The seat screeched as I pull it out.

Mr Man, our teacher, was obviously excited about what we were doing yesterday because his face beamed a toothy smile.
As he explained what we were about to be doing, my heart pumps with excitement.

Finally we started, I could barely wait for it all to happen but after two minutes it finally happened, then as I stared into the water it started to turn green.

My name is called, I stride out like a poodle, waving proudly to the crowd, the cheers from the New Zealand fill my soul with hope. I’m here at the Olympics living my dream. I plummet into my boat and wait impatiently for the whistle to blow. Finally I hear it blow so rambunctious it drowned out the sound of the crowd, I was so cheerful because I’m well in front I didn’t realize there was no-one behind me. As I stared into the water it began to turn green. I start rowing back as if life depended on it.

Powerless

As I stared into the water it began to turn green. The water roared deafeningly and opened into a mouthlike whirlpool of green, sickly water. I stood, staring. Furious winds kicked up, my chestnut hair blew madly around my petrified face.

The whirlpool rose quickly. Ready to suck me down. It did. I went spiralling down, like a frog swallowing a fly. I was powerless over what was happening.

I reached with all my strength, to feel for, a wall? No luck. The tunnel gurgled deeply. Suddenly, up. I was spat onto the ground, just in time. I fell unconscious.

100WC - Week 5 - Emily L

My heart thunders, I feel like I am going to burst. I tell myself this is only the olympic warm up no pressure, but it really depends on my life. My fists grip onto the bar, I swing high, like a skyscraper.
As I spray my hands ready to compete, don’t want to slip. As I stared into the water it began to turn green, I rattle my head trying to stop my sight from being cloudy. I hushed to myself “I will make it” but the other side of my head is howling “you will fail”. I made it.

Phoebe's 100 Word Challenge - Week 5

Beach Adventure

I gazed at the DANGER signs, the bolted up entrance, the barbed wire fences locking me out from what? From who?  Deciding to be dauntless I slitted a hole in the fence and clambered through.

I dawdled on the soft sand that swallowed my feet whole, as the sun blazed down on my back. Sighing, I inhaled the sea salt aroma of the beach.

But as I stared into the water it began to turn green and a figure draped in seaweed emerged. Fear struck me like a bullet, I glanced around shrieking for help. But the beach was deserted.
